About the scan
NavVis recently scanned an MEP facility at our headquarters in Munich, Germany, using NavVis MLX, highlighting the device’s strengths in complex, confined environments. The mechanical room’s layout—filled with tight spaces, intricate piping, hard-to-reach areas, and staircases—made it an ideal testing ground for NavVis MLX's agility and targeted capture capabilities.
This space presented challenges typical of MEP rooms, where bulky equipment and crowded pathways require a handheld scanner with excellent maneuverability and high precision.
NavVis MLX proved efficient at quickly capturing the facility's layout and dense network of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in rich detail. The device's versatility allows both broad and close-up scans, producing comprehensive, high quality point cloud data perfectly suited for integration into building information models (BIM).
Such digital documentation provides valuable insights for maintenance, future upgrades, and system management, giving facility teams a precise, up-to-date model that enhances safety, planning, and operational efficiency.
